Chasing The Fairy #17

By: Gus Victoria

Chasing dreams
Beautiful and unchaste,
Dangerous, seductive,
Calling in the dark,
Waking from a dream
To walk,
To seek and to know
The brilliant diamond
Hidden,
The joyful treasure
Lost,
That is yours to give,
Never mine to take,
They call you whore,
They call you slut,
They look down on you
And call no more,
You are mistress,
You are lover,
They are nothing,
Insecure sparks
To your star,
Forgotten
As you are immortalized,
In bed,
In ink,
In glorious memory.

Chasing the Fairy #16

By: Gus Victoria

Futile endeavor
To chase ghosts
That haunt the periphery
Of guilt-ridden experience,
Joy to dust turned,
Reflected in such  a ghastly mirror
That doth create the shade
Of a once-brilliant light,
A mad play of memory
Conspiring to move against
A positive future
For the wrath of the spectre
That never was.
Lost and confused,
The ring buried,
The church forgotten,
The vows unspoken.

Chasing the Fairy #15

By: Gus Victoria

Memories not yet made
Fuel the lover’s flame
In the furnace of love,
That combustible crucible
That furnishes the blade
Upon which we all fall.

Lust is a hunger
Only ever delayed,
Never truly sated.
Conflict created
When two souls not fated
Play with temptation’s fire.
Burned in ectasy
To sinful ash.
Reborn in redemption.

Taking flight
To fall once more.
Whole again,
To break again
Upon the jagged crags
Of an unsheltered life.

Chasing the Fairy #12

By: Gus Victoria

A ghost,
A spectre,
A feeble soul
Besmeared and befouled
Searching,
In toil shattered,
For a cosmic partner;
A soul not lost
In mind complete,
Joy near beheld,
Physical pleasure
Is known
Before all ecstasy
Is fully realized,
Plaintive cries
Thrown to the wind
In climactic embrace
Do little to bend
The iron will
Of selfish indulgence.

Chasing the Fairy #11

By: Gus Victoria

Merchants of madness,
Purveyors of untruth
Gleaned from tragedy,
Moving the mass,
Uneducated and unprotected
From hearts compassionate,
They abandon reason
As they feel the pain
Of death imposed
And future deposed.
With a sword in hand,
Pen in another.
And coin collected,
These merchants sell
Freshly bought grief.
I move only this ink
And collect no coin.
I sit as others stand.
I ponder as others move.

Chasing the Fairy #10

By: Gus Victoria

Is love hidden
If your eye cannot see,
For there she is,
Sight is a lie
That her warmth belies,
She is not cold to you
As your imagination insists,
As your words dictate.
She loves your smile
And your embrace,
Yet you wait,
For peace to come
Onto a battlefield
Of your own creation,
Your heart and mind belligerents,
Words and doubts soldiers,
Thoughts the ammunition,
She is the peacemaker
You chose to ignore,
Her love eases all
As your doubts fade,
A hot blade
Of truth and reason
Cuts through the curious treason
Of a heart hurt
And a mind disjointed.
She is a dream undreamt
For to see before
Is to not see at all.
Do not lose this gem,
You may live a king,
Or die a pauper
But tonight,
Just kiss her.

Chasing the Fairy #9

By: Gus  Victoria

A bird of a feather lost
On the path taken most
To a confession given freely
To him that asked.
A stranger hidden
From the truth given
On an empty plain
To sit on a barren pedestal
Of marble cold.
An inscription of gold
And the silken glance
Of the admiring youth
Give honor
Where ignorance is due.
Lack is surplus
When we worship
The lost empty space
Of unknown faithless frivolity.
God is greater than god
For man is more than men.
And woman mother of both.

Chasing the Fairy #8

A slave to the night
Is gone with first light.
The bonds of darkness
Banished by the dawn,
She a harsh mistress
Jealous of the mystery given,
Hidden by that cloak of stars
That she in envy despises,
Oh that night were eternal,
Boundless joy for this nocturnal!
But the Sun must on its path tread
Burning the night away
For the sake of his sister
Who weakly, feebly makes the night
Her rival,
Dawn, for your survival,
The Morning slays the night.

Chasing the Fairy #7

By: Gus Victoria

Light!
A lover’s flame lit,
Fiery comfort
Of a charred memory
Encased in glass
Glowing brightly,
The way leading
To the lost gone
Wandering in wait.
Expectation of Desperation
For a thin faith fled.
They wait alone
Crowded in their solitude,
Pitied before loved,
Keepers and jailers,
Barriers to their own happiness,
Blind to the fire
Of Passion,
Slaves to desire
They cannot posses.

Chasing the Fairy #6

By: Gus Victoria

What joy does reside
The King and The Beggar Maid - Edmund Blair Leighton
In this heart, beside
All the hate in the world,
By your love is grown,
Its light is shone
To illuminate that world
On white silk wings unfurled
And a soul bared
Beyond fear
And beyond reason
But with faith without treason,
I love you now
And I love for ever
The sun will cold shine
When with you
I no longer dine,
Marry me now
And I shall forget forever
And to you dedicate
A life eternal.
“Yes” you alone may say.
And for that ever shall I pray.

Chasing the Fairy #5

By: Gus Victoria

Indeed it is a sad truth
That love begets
Its share of regrets,
Though not in the loving
Should it be said
That our souls be dead,
It is in the loss
That we oft are prone to forget
The moments of joy
As we prefer the pain
Of love’s embrace lost.
We look back upon that
Fairytale time
To a fallacy known
And grown to a truth cherished:
That we were blameless;
Victims of an erratic
Callous heart.

Chasing the Fairy #4

By: Gus Victoria

The maw of the abyss unknown
Looks back at the wayward believer
Of things said
And things unproven
To this or any eye,
She looks upon a nude Adonis
As he sees a fallen Aphrodite,
Love made
Is fantasy given wing
For to fly to ends unknown.
Nothing is sacred between lovers shared,
For in darkness they hide
The truth of their passion.
They are as one once
And as one they depart.
Left alone they write of love
Separated they long for each other,
And each truth a lie uncovers.

Chasing the Fairy #3

By: Gus Victoria

An errant heart knows not
Its aim untrue,
An errant heart
Believes in all it should do,
It blunders about
In blind stampede
Toward a warm glow it feels,
It believes the lie
That clothes the majestic artifice
Of love gone by,
It bleeds poetic
Love’s aesthetic,
But does not see
The damage done
As it follows its own sun.

Chasing the Fairy #2

By: Gus Victoria

I am a revolutionary
Of heart and mind
In soul made one,
I am a student
Of a cosmic law
Still learning,
Still yearning,
I am a lover
Of unknown energies
And distant galaxies
Of mystery
And the light of knowledge,
I fail
At all I don’t do
But excel at what moves me
Because it moves me.
I know sex
But I adore love
I know her
But I love you,
And I chase the unknowable
That in the search
I may attain wisdom
For though love be mine,
Philosophy is my mistress.

Chasing the Fairy #1

By: Gus Victoria
Not quite the fairy I chase, but hot and green nonetheless!

The sweet essence of spring
In this is found;
A sweet tincture of all good
Given freely by true love’s
Fairy guide
And I doubly intoxicated
Look upon a future clear
Brought forth from
The limits of my mind
To the center of my soul,
Impossible to deny
